Prevention is better than Cure

Mr Nithin Kamath is a Zerodha’s Founder. He is one of the most successful young entrepreneurs in India. He is a fitness enthusiast. In 2022, he had set a new health challenge for employees so that they take out time for physical exercises and workouts. He also encouraged employees in many ways to build a culture in the organization that promotes physical fitness.

Mr Kamath experienced a mild stroke seven weeks before. We also read and find that there are few more happenings too. Why a person who is fit, disciplined and takes care of himself could be affected? Dilip Kumar, close associate of Nithin emphasized that being physically fit does not necessarily equate to being healthy. Many individuals mistakenly assume that fitness and health are interchangeable terms but they represent distinct aspects of physical well-being, he said.

Dr. Sudhir Kumar, a neurologist based in Hyderabad, pointed out that the Zerodha founder accurately identified five potential risk factors contributing to his stroke: Stress from his father's passing, insufficient sleep, excessive exercise, fatigue due to work responsibilities and workouts, and dehydration.

In spite of regular exercise and workouts, people are affected by strokes and health issues. Stress is one of the main reasons for this. Stress impairs hormones, which can develop hypertension. Doctors recommend few steps such as moderate exercises, manage your diet. avoid smoking, alcohol and caffeine. Ensure you sleep well every day. Prevention is better than cure.

We all wish and pray that Nithin Kamath gets well soon to create more empires like Zerodha. Stay healthy and Keep Shining.

How Business Can Grow Due to HR Efficiency

Human Resource Management effectively manages people in an organization focusing on its acquisition, development, utilization, and maintenance. This department in the organization helps bridge the gap between the employee's performance and the organization's goals. If managed correctly, this can give the organization an edge over its competitors. The Founder of Sony Corporation Mr. Akio Morita once said, there is 'No magic' in the success of companies. The secret of their success is simply the way that treat their employees.

A good HR department works to create an employee-oriented workplace in which employees work effectively to achieve personal and organizational goals. Following are some reasons Why Human Resource Management is important for any organization?

1. Strategy Management

Human Resource is an essential aspect of any organization. HR Managers work upon and manage the strategies laid by top-level management to help organizations achieve their goals and objectives. It also takes part in corporate decision and strategy making for current employees and predictions for the future based on business demands.

2. Setting a Culture for freedom and belongingness

Quality of work life is the total quality of an employee's work environment in an organization. It tells about the employee's impression about its physical and psychological wellbeing at an organization. The HR Management needs to make conscious efforts to maintain the quality of work-life as undoubtedly it is directly proportional to the employees' productivity. This can be done by managing and reducing workplace stress, create culture to recognise talents, and belongingness.

3. Bringing in the Right Talents on Time

Apart from managing the Resources in an organization, HR is also responsible for ensuring the availability of competent human resources. They are responsible for acquiring the competent talents for the job to ensure high performance by putting the right person at the right place.

“One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man.” – Elbert Hubbard

4. Talent Development and Talent Management

The learning and development department of an organization must put in continued efforts to boost its employees' performance. Investing in Skill Development not only increases the employee's potential and motivation but contributes to the overall growth of the organization.

“Train people well enough so they can leave. Treat them well enough so they don’t want to.” – Sir Richard Branson

New employees must be welcomed with orientation and training sessions to equip them with the workflow of the organization. All the employees must be given the relevant skill development training to boost their job skills and development sessions to work on life skills like communication, decision making, and leadership.

5. Motivation and Engagement

An employee getting recognition increases meaning and purpose in their job, thereby motivating them to work better the next time. Another method is to provide them with regular monetary and non-monetary rewards, and benefits. This not only helps in retaining employees but also achieving the organization's goals effectively.

So, all in all the Human Resource Leaders play the role of a balancing wheel in an organization. They help in building the human capital and also keeping the morale and motivation of the employees in the companies for better productivity and results.
